A bold architectural structure, coloured in pillar box red, towers at the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion this Summer. To coincide the current major Serpentine Gallery exhibition of photographer and artist, Wolfgang Tillmans', Park Nights presented a special evening discussion between Wolfgang and Professor and astronomer, Dimitar Sasselov.
Beneath the sextillion of stars, yes add lots of zeros to the amount, seated in Jean Nouvel's designed Pavilion, we marvelled at Wolfgang’s photographs of the transit of Venus. Talks on light, the Milky Way, and the perception of the colour of stars created an informative evening. A very enthusiastic Wolfgang shone through in his photographs taken at the tender age of 10 of the moon by attaching his camera on the telescope lens.
Serpentine Gallery Park Nights are on Friday evenings and continue until 01 October 2010.
Wolfgang Tillmans major exhibition in London is showing until the 19 September 2010 at the Serpentine Gallery.
